1. Washing Machine Won’t Turn On

Possible causes: A blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker, damaged power cord, or faulty door switch.

Solution: Test the wall outlet with another device. Reset the circuit breaker if needed. Make sure the door or lid is fully closed. Most washing machines will not start if the door sensor is not working.

2. Washing Machine Won’t Drain

Possible causes: A clogged drain filter, blocked drain hose, or jammed drain pump.

Solution: Clean the drain filter near the bottom front of the machine. Check the drain hose for bends or kinks. Remove any small items, such as coins or socks, that may be blocking the pump.

3. Drum Won’t Spin or Clothes Stay Soak-Wet

Possible causes: An unbalanced load, worn drive belt, or faulty lid switch.

Solution: Rearrange heavy clothes, such as towels or blankets, so the load is balanced. If the drum spins freely by hand, the drive belt may be worn and may need replacement.

4. Washing Machine Vibrates or Moves

Possible causes: Uneven machine legs, an unbalanced load, or shipping bolts that were not removed.

Solution: Check that the machine is level. Adjust the feet if needed. Spread the clothes evenly inside the drum. If the machine is new, make sure the shipping bolts have been removed from the back.

5. Water Is Leaking

Possible causes: Loose hose connections, a damaged door seal, or a cracked drain pump.

Solution: Check and tighten the water inlet and drain hose connections. Inspect the rubber door seal for cracks or trapped debris. Replace the seal if it is damaged.

6. Washing Machine Makes Loud Noises

Possible causes: Loose objects inside the drum, worn drum bearings, or a damaged motor pulley.

Solution: Check the drum for objects such as coins or small metal items. Remove anything that may be causing the noise. A loud roaring sound during the spin cycle may indicate worn drum bearings and may require professional repair.

7. Washing Machine Fills Slowly or Won’t Fill

Possible causes: A clogged inlet filter, closed water supply valve, or kinked water hose.

Solution: Make sure the water supply valves are fully open. Check the inlet hoses for bends. Clean the small mesh filters inside the water inlet connections with a soft brush.

8. Bad Smell or Mold Inside the Drum

Possible causes: Detergent and fabric softener buildup, along with trapped moisture.

Solution: Run a cleaning cycle with a washing machine cleaner. Follow the cleaner’s instructions. After each wash, leave the door slightly open to allow the drum to dry.

9. Door or Lid Won’t Lock or Unlock

Possible causes: A faulty door lock, water left inside the drum, or a temporary safety lock.

Solution: If water remains inside the machine, drain it using the emergency drain system if your model has one. Unplug the machine for about 5 minutes and then try again. If the door still will not unlock, contact a professional technician.

10. Detergent or Fabric Softener Won’t Dispense

Possible causes: A clogged dispenser drawer or low water pressure.

Solution: Remove the detergent drawer and clean it with warm water. Remove any hardened detergent or softener. Make sure the water supply valves are fully open.
